    I'm looking to buy a joystick. Does anyone have any suggestions? Would greatly appreciate it. I'm not at all a hardcore flight sim gamer so I'm looking for something that isn't really complex but will last. Don't want something expensive but not a total cheapie either. In other words I guess I want reasonable quality but not (much) complexity.

    But then again, this would be my first joystick ever so I'm really open to pretty much any suggestions. I think what I described above is what I want but because I probably don't know too well what's best for me anyway, I'll listen to any and all pointers.

    I'd recommend you buy a Saitek joypad/stick. They are well build and comfortable to use

    Cool, thanks guys. Just out of curiosity, what's bad about an external power source?

    I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Can you clarify?

    IMO, an external power supply just takes up another mains socket, most can be powered by the USB port itself.

    IMO=In My Opinion.

    I've heard good things about Saitek as well, though I've been pretty happy with my Microsoft Sidewinder. Logitech is also good from what I hear from more people who use joysticks. I'd see how one fits in your hand if you're able to.
