Time to start a war and ask the question...
Which system do you guys ythink is the best ever?
I cant say its easy to choose, but my favoitre has got to be SNES. The RPG's on that sucker are classic. Chrono Trigger, FF2, FF3, Secret of Mana...

    What do you think?

Agreed. SNES all the way, although there were a couple of must-have games on other platforms, I think SNES really had the vast majority. Though if the Shining Force series and "Beyond Oasis" had been for SNES instead of Genesis, it would have been the indisputable ultimate console.

    Are we talking retro now?
'cause I cannot see any non-cd/dvd sytem as relevant.

I used to have an SNES and yeah I absolutely loved it. Hell I was obsessed....
I sold it when I moved to England but I cannot say it has a patch on the PS's.

Sorry, sorry, sorry!!! Obviously still hungover! I did not realise it said 'Older consoles'
Yup it is the SNES but then I did not have any other to compare....

N64 was the system during my childhood so I'll go with that. There were a few games that I truly could NOT stop playing.

    StarFox 64
    Goldeneye: 007
    Perfect Dark
    Super Mario Kart 64
    DonkeyKong 64

    ^^ All classics.

Snes, second console I had and I still have it to this very day, three games with it and one I don't play, Doom (don't play), Super Metroid and Shadowrun. Classic games for a classic console.

rofl at all you young one's classifying a sega saturn, dreamcast or a genesis as "retro" (bar AT) ;)

Retro is.. as AT mentioned such as:
    SNES
    MegaDrive
Master System ! What a beast!

Or GameGear anyone remember that? - the 90's equivelant of a PSP!!! HAHA!

By far the BEST system EVER was the Commodore AMIGA !!.. it had all the same style games that the Megadrive had, but also had Adventure Games, RPG's, and was also a brilliant computer that made Windows look like a Toy!.

Plus it had Brilliant Graphics!!.. and it was released 6 to 7 years before the SNES or Megadrive.

Alot of Amiga games were also ported to the Megadrive and the SNES if they were a success on the Amiga.

Here are some screenshots, so you can see what kind of games and graphics the Amiga could produce. This is truly where 16 bit gaming started! A friend of mine used to ditch his Megadrive, just to come over and play on my Amiga.
