Hi, i am wanting to upgrade in the near future (for gaming), i have found 2 similar motherboards and i am having trouble deciding between them, the boards are: ASRock 939DUAL-SATA2 and the ASRock 939NF4G-SATA2 they both have similar specifications although i am not worried about the SLI limitations of them. The specs are as follows 939 DUAL£45.83p) Chipset ULI M1695 + M1567 CPU Support Athlon 64, FX, X2, No of PCI Express x1 Slots 1 No of PCI Express x16 Slots 1 No of PCI slots 3 x PCI slots No. of AGP Slots 1 (4x / 8x) 939NF4G: CPU - 939-Pin Socket Supporting AMD AthlonTM 64 / 64FX / 64X2 Processor - Supports AMD's Cool 'n' Quiet Technology - FSB 1 GHz (2.0 GT/s) - Supports Untied Overclocking Technology - Supports Hyper-Transport Technology Chipset - Northbridge: nVidia GeForce 6100 - Southbridge: nVidia nForce 410 MCP Expansion Slot - 2 x PCI slots - 1 x PCI Express x 16 slot - 1 x PCI Express x 1 slot - 1 x AMR slot (If you can suggest ay other similar alternatives to these, that would be gratefully received) Your response will be gratefully received, thankyou KNEV123
The ASRock 939DUAL-SATA2 has a AGP graphics slot and a pci Express graphics slot, for people with an AGP graphics cards who do not want to by a new pci Express one,but have the chance to add one at a later date. So i would go for the 939NF4G if you are getting or have a pci Express GPU,if you have a XT800XT PE AGP card sat around then get the DUAL. burtie P.S i have heard good things about the duel mobo, and for the price 45 notes is not bad.
Frankly I'm not crazy about ASrocks products as the layout is very tight on the Dual especially and the one I used to build a friends PC was defective so I'd look toward something from ASUS, Gigabyte, DFI, or ABIT. Sure they'll cost more but it's worth it to get a stable mobo. Look for something with an nForce 4 Ultra/SLI chipset in particular.
