What you're talking about is Litescribe, a technology that HP and Liteon (I think) use to burn a label into the top part of a disc, I'm not sure whether you need special discs or not, here is a search for Litescribe in google, should find what you want there.

Just so you know, it can take well over 1/2 hour to actually scribe the text onto the disc depending on how complex it is!

As far as I know it does need specialy 'enabled' disks.
If I remember from my checks.

As for the time it takes.... ever burned a disk image at X2?
Tell me you waited patiently and did not think -
:swear: I wish it would :swear: finish already..... :O

It seems to me an awful price to pay when for a fraction of the price you can print a lable and stick it on.....

haha im burning LEGAL cds for my boss. when speakers give speeches at conferences they sometimes have Powerpoint presentations to show the atendees. a number of attendees asked for a copy of the presentations. so the confrence manager asked my boss if he can receive 58 copies of the presentations that he'll pay for. so that job got passed to me. i bought the HP lightscribe burner today which the company dime paid for, which ill be installing it on my computer to make the copies then its mine. and if they take a long time to scribe i can play playstation in the mean while. :D thats how it goes.
