hello i have AMD Athlon XP 2000+ on GigaByte GA-7N400-S-L with 512 MB samsung ddr memmory 333MHZ (one slot) and PowerColor Radeon 9600XT 128MB i keep having crashes only while gaming i tried to turn FAST WRITES on and off and nothing ... my cpu runs while IDLE wuth 60 C temperature ... what do u think ?? any suggestions ?
Make sure you have the latest version of any drivers (and things like DirectX). My comp used to crash alot while playing CS Source, Turned out it was some dodgy BIOS settings. Try loading Default Settings in your BIOS.
If your computer is Idling at 60*C then i'd say it's overheating. If i were you, i'd remove your CPU heatsink, apply some new thermal paste (preferably Arctic Silver 5 and only a very thin layer) and re-install your heatsink. If the problem still persists, see your doctor
*agree's with pelvis_3* sorry, i didnt pay any attention to the idle temp, my AMD 2200+ used to run around 30*C (with a BIG ass heatsink), it shoudl eb <40 if its idle. Some case fans prolly woulnt go amiss ether, allthough they do make more noise, the colder the air inside the case the more effective your heatsink will be.
