Ive just been confused. I thought that there was just a 6600gt pci-e 128mb card Now ive found out that you get a 6600 and you get a 6600 Like Gigabyte. They have several modles of this card and i realy would like to know the difference between all these diferent 6600gt's. What difference is there between them and why do their prices range so very much. Thanx. pls unconfuse me
The 6600 is slower than the 6600GT, and therefore, the 6600GT costs more. Other factors: amount of RAM, dual or single DVI ports, video in/out capabilities, cooling, PCIe or AGP interface, and the company themselves. Some companies have a reputation that they can ask for a higher price. Yes, it sucks, but that's part of it. Another factor is the software bundle. You may get 4 free games with one card, but it may cost another $50. Additionally, Gigabyte (and I think a few others) have a dual 6600GT card that includes 2 6600GT's on the video card (this is a PCIe only card). It's equal to buying 2 6600GT cards, so, it will cost more than the average 6600GT card.
If you check out the gigabyte homepage or an online store that sells gigabyte and you search for a 6600gt 128mb PCI-E then you get a whole lot of different cards of the same name realy. I knew about the dual gpu cards but there are some that basically are the same exept for a "turbo" on the end. I have a suspision that they are the same cards but just look a bit different or have a bit of an asthetic something. If this is the case can we just apply the old rule that the more you pay the better you get or is this a line for the fools. Is gagabyte a good brand
Personally when I got my 6600GT I went for Galaxy, they were the company with the best ratings on the websites I looked around for, affordable too and the card itself works like a dream.
Ive just been confused. I thought that there was just a 6600gt pci-e 128mb card Now ive found out that you get a 6600 and you get a 6600 Don't worry - the Nvidia 6600 - is not bad things. U can overclock it up to 6600gt.
That would be a very impressive overclock. The 6600 is clocked very low, like 300 and 600MHz or something. The turbo just refers to a slightly increased clockspeed, you could do it yourself nearly risk free and without paying anything extra. There's really not going to be any difference between different brands so long as the specs are the same. Just stick with brands like MSI, Gigabyte, ASUS, BFG, XFX, and PNY.
