Ive decided that nows the time to upgrade. So what do you think on the following. I know gagabyte is a solid brand so im going with them. This all comes to 5675 rand. = about 945$ is this a good price or am i being ripped off.

    Gigabyte GeForce 6600GT 16xPCIE 128-bit
    Gigabyte GA-K8N-SLI nForce4
    AMD Athlon 64 4000+ Processor Socket 939

Any comments or thoughts in general on the sys. Any of these components going to create a bottle neck.

    Thanx

your might aswell get an amd athlon 64 3700+, the 200mhz difference wont make much performance increase at all.

I realize you might pay a premium for components where you live but in the US that would cost less than $700 I believe. Sorry man.
As for the specs themselves you did quite well. The processor is nice though I'd say the 3800+ is a better deal as the extra L2 cache makes little difference in AMD cpu's. I'd go a little higher on the video card. A 6800GS is a very nice choice in my opinion.

Yeah things are so much more expensive here. Africa sux at the moment. I mean when you go looking at the major brands they ask you what country youre from and there is not one african country on the list. Dam corrupt governments. Im sorry too, but its not your fault

Anyway about the build. Is it gonna benifit me to go with components of the same name. Compatibility etc. Also is gigabyte a good name to go for.

Thanx about the cpu cuz there is a big diference in price.

No problem:) Yeah it must be a little rough, sorry about that man, one of the few benifits of the us: cheap components.
You don't need to go with the same brands, there's really no reason to. Gigabyte is a good brand, there are other nice ones like ABIT, ASUS, DFI, and sometimes MSI but gigabyte is generally concidered a nice choice. When it comes to memory so long as you get 1GB of PC3200/DDR400 you'll be all set. Stick with OCz, Corsair, Patriot, Crucial, Kingston, G.Skill, and Geil for the brands.
    Hope this helps:)

Ohh, sorry man, yeah I know how it is but don't make the mistake I did and blow money before I should have. Wait till you can afford everything you want and need. It's not worth getting a crippled system.
