Ok I have been wondering this for sometime now. Why is there two outlets for monitors on the back of the graphics cards now? The last time I bought one it only had one outlet. Is there a benefit to haveing two? Can I hook up two monitors to it? Is it possible to be running a game on one screen and then sending email or browsing forums on the other? Another Question, I have a 19" Crt and my new 7800gt comes with the two adapters, Can I just hook one up or do I need a splitter type of adapter to combine the two into one?
The dual video outputs on a graphics card are for dual displays, they can effectively double your viewing area but you need 2 displays to use them both. You can just use one perfectly fine.
ok cool, so I can just hook up one and it will not disrupt my performance of the card at all? Is it possible to use two crts for dual displays or would you not recomend that? thanks for your help guys , much appreciated
You can use any combination of CRT or LCD screens. Then all you have to do, is change the dual display settings in your display drivers control panel.
I'm running two screens on one pc via the dual dvi support on my 6600gt. And yes, you can run a game on one screen, and check your e-mail etc. on the other. But remember, changing a task (ex. ALT + TAB) will minimize your game, and if you don't have enough ram, would slow down your computer allot! But it's pretty cool none the less, having my mouse cursor woosh around from one screen to the other using the dualview setting! It's pretty cool, and worth it!
It's very easy to do, the configuration settings for my 6600GT was very easy. Here's a picture of my setup. 1 CRT and 1 LCD, I can't stand only having 1 monitor, when at school it's bad having to work on 300MHz 64MB RAM machines (with windows XP...sluggish...) and only 1 screen just annoys me now
