i have a dell c400, spec. p3m 1ghz,256 ram, 20gb hdd,external dell dvd and floppy drives. my problem is that the laptop will only boot from the floppy drive even when the boot order is changed in the bios to dvd or hdd first it just will not boot from either. the hdd contains windows xp which i have tested in another laptop(omnibook 500) i have also tried another hdd in it and it still will not boot even though in the bios it shows up as there!!! when i inserted a win xp boot floppy the hdd tried to boot however just flashes up the blue error screen and restarts. i cannot find a fault with the harware in the pc and it has been tested with the dell diag. software and the bios has been flashed to the latest. i am thinking it could be a virus that has affected the bios before i got the laptop but canot find a bios virus scanner on floppy!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
Usually the faster solution is back up drive then re- install windows . Get all the new drivers first.
