Does anybody here know if the speed gains would make buying the Gigabyte Ramdisk worth the considerable amount of money it would cost? If I got one I would use it for BF2, so I would need at least 2.5 GB of RAM. I mean, is the hard drive enough of a bottleneck in the system to get me to spend $400+?

64-bit architecture will allow systems to address up to 1 terabyte (1000GB) of memory. In today's 32-bit desktop systems, you can have up to 4GB of RAM (provided your motherboard that can handle that much RAM) which is split between the applications and the operating system (OS).

    I got is from here

I seriously don't see the need for it at this point in time.
Maybe down the track when prices drop and it becomes mainstream?

I already knew that, my question was completely unrelated to system memory. A ramdisk is a piece of hardware that allows you to use sticks of RAM as mass storage devices, i.e. up to 4 GB of storage that operates at the speed of RAM as opposed to the far inferior speeds of a hard drive. But as to pelvis said, I tend to agree, I think the $400+ would be better spent on a 7800GTX. I just wanted to get a second opinion.
