Just finished, didn't take too long - hour and a half maybe, worked on it a little earlier, went out, came back and finished, a practice for my slicing and editing skills really want to make sure I can get expanding boxes working really well, got the expanding side bars working well too, I think they frame the site nicely.

No idea what I'll do with the layout, maybe try and sell it somewhere...

Very cool dude, you know how much I love the brush work. Maybe a touch of color would enhance things a bit, monochomatic has it's merits but a little experimentation might lead to some cool discoveries.

Yeah I did experiment with a little colour, but to me it just didnt seem to fit with all the grey. At least it's slicing practice for me, I need to find a use for the design now :p

Thanks, I did try some colour because I thought it would look a little plain, but after trying the colour it just didnt work. If anyone wants to suggest some colours I may give it a try and post the results - although not tonight as I'm not feeling too good... :eek:hah:

Absolutely beautiful work. The code doesn't look hand-written, but it is clean enough and doesn't seem to do anything very wasteful. The graphical design is excellent.

That looks very cool! All you have to do now is decide what content you are going to use it for :)

Thanks AT I really like the design too - The code isn't hand done I admit, if I did hand do it it would have taken much longer :p
Yeah I did it as practice really, wanted to make sure I can get the side expanding bars working as well aslots of other expanding content boxes. I have no idea what to do with it now, any ideas anyone?

Matt: Do you use Photoshop for graphics because ur designs rocks..... and this website is cool too.....like ur siggi~!

I like the way u r makin this website coz some people use 15" monitor and they dont have to slide to see the whole website. it fits on their screen.

Just thinkin about something that if you use all the links on the sides then the part underneath sitename will look empty..........I mean if you use site links under sitename will be great in my point of view and as per my thinkin u will gonna create cool pictures for buttons like you have made for sitename etc.... Just look on this website https://www.hell.co.nz/index.jsp?city=Auckland .....can u make pillors in your website like neon..... something like that website....

Can u plz tell me for which purpose you are making this website?

Yes I do - and thanks for the compliments.
Most people use at least 1024 x 768 - people with an 800 x 600 resolution may have to scroll to see the other side but it won't be much, I don't really like doing the whole fit the website to 100% of the screen - for some sites it works really well (HWF for example) but I personally think having a block in the middle that seems to 'sit' on the background looks good.
For the site links I could place them above the main content box but below the header, but personally I think they suit the style better being on the left. Maybe if I made new buttons with some rollover animations that might work, I may try it.

Do you mean like the bar running along the top of the site? I could make something like that for the side bars, although that site you linked is made in flash, very different in the way the site works.
I have no idea what I'll use this template for, I made it as a little design practice and now have no idea what to do with it.

I used to do a lot of graphic design when I was younger. I used Macromedia Freehand to draw the outline, and the body of the image. Then I just imported it into Photoshop to add a bit of colour

It's not something you can learn in a few weeks. If you are serious about learning a program like that, you should take a course. I think you'd get a bit lost if you tried to self study it. I can't do much in it, but what I can do is enough for my purposes. Besides, I use the Gimp anyway!

Hard to say, I started doing it seriously a few months ago, read a lot of tutorials, and generally just played around with PS. The hard part for me is trying to think of original designs.

I found photoshop very easy to pick up. I'd really recommend getting at least version 7.0, though I do prefer CS a bit more though the difference is subtle save for a few extra filters. Either way I picked up a decent understanding in about a week. Though you do have to be pretty freeform in you experimentation, you can always check out tutorials online as others have said. See what you can do man!

I am pretty busy this year.....will hopefully go through a course next year coz self learning is not a successful path for me, I have to go through some training.

Ne way, so any new idea from your mind Matt555?
