Had two 160 GB Hard drives running fine for past year - Yesterday re-formatted Primary Disc and re-loaded Windows XP.

Although Secondary is Visible in Bios, Windows doesn't recognise it - drive contains about 50GB of various files (Fat 32)

Can anyone help me retrieve these files??

You may need to initialise the disk:

1)Right-click 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'. The will bring up the 'Computer Management' Console.

    2) Down the right hand side you will see 'Disk Management'. Click on it to bring up the control applet.

    3) Look towards the bottom of the window. You should see all of your hard drive and CD-ROM devices listed.

Can you see your slave device?

I can see my slave device but it says "unallocated"

I've managed to recover the files using "R-Studio" but i still want the drive active

Go into Disk Management and find your slave device. Right click it and select 'initiate'. A wizard will commence.
