Password prompt

    how do put passwords on shared folders on network. so wen i try to open that folder from computer B it will prompt me for password.

    I don't know of any ways to do this with Windows File Sharing, but one way would be to use a password protected zip file. Thats about all I can think of without employing FTP servers.

    I know exactly how to do it in Windows 98, but it's been changed in 2000/XP. It is possible thats for sure, but you'll have to wait for another board member to post.

    Windows NT (NT4, 2000 and XP) security is based on group-oriented policies, so you might as well make the best of them. Check out our Windows file sharing walkthrough.

    i dont get it. i added a new user group and etc. but where do i specify the password and all

    You specify the individual password for each user account which will be allowed to connect to the share.
