    hi all,
Does anyone know whether it is possible to get a serial to usb to converter. I have got a PC which has no Usb ports and i basically want to have a usb port through either my serial port or my parallel port.

hi, ninja fetus is right you'll have to buy a pci card (about £30) that will give you 4 or 5 USB ports

Theres no point. Even if there was such a converter, the transfer speeds would be horrendous. I only use the serial port now for sending ASCII data communications with stepper motor circuits.

Please don't buy the cheaper USB cards because they will cause nothing but trouble. Basically don't buy it if it has a VIA chipset. I'd recommend you shop around for Belkin cards, or cards that use an NEC chipset
