yes they are right, the best way to improve perfomance is to add more RAM but be very carful as there are many different types of RAM available (e.g. DDR, DDR2 and the speed PC2100, PC3400, PC4000) just check you mothboard manual to see whitch RAM will work, also find out what memory you have, to make sure your new RAM will work with your the RAM you currently have

not too sure, not that familier with the Nvidia 7900GTX but i'd keep it, PCI-E is faster than AGP (like you didn't know)

What is the make and model of your PSU?, i play battleifled 2 on highest settings with 3700+ AMD @ 2.8ghz and ATI RADEON X800XT PE, and i only get freezing now and again, and you graphics card is a hell of alot more powerfull than mine,i also never get low FPS in most games on high settigns too, so it seems like it could be your powersupply, i only used 1gb of ram when playing battlefield 2 aswell, either its your power supply, or ram, but seems to be your powersupply, unless you've got some faulty hardware.

Have you plugged in all power cabled into the Graphics card?

2gb of ram for battlefield 2 and other games like F.E.A.R is reccomended though.

the 7900GTX is one of the best cards out at the moment, if not the best!

your cpu is a socket 775 right?, well you can have DDR 2 memory i think, but i think if your going to buy more memory, stick with performance DDR 400 memory (PC 3200), but thats costly, so just upgrade to 2gb of memory (buy the same ram as you have now), also, do you have Dual Channel enabled? (only applies if you have 2 or 4 sticks of RAM)

Your CPU seems ok, RAM ok, and graphics card BRILL!!!, seems like your power supply aint giving you enought power, the wattage aint everything!, its how many amps on the 12V rail that counts, 28A-32A is BRILL!!, but dual 12V rails in a PSU is better.

Place your computer specs in either your signature, or my computer (located on dark blue NAV bar at top)
provide more details aswell, E.G, RAM: type of ram, eg DDR 400 (PC 3200) power supply : Make and Model.

If you dont kknow much details about your computer, you can download a program for free called EVEREST, or CPU-Z which tells you alot about your computer, CPU-Z tells you alsorts about your CPU and Memory.

200mhz for your memory :s, should be 400mhz, althought, i think the ram does actually run at 200, but then is doubled.

its not shown much details about your memory :s, in your bios it should tell you everyhting about your memory though.

everyhting seems ok, hmm, do you have any other games like unreal tournament 2004?, if you do, try them, if you get low fps on them, then there must be somthing setup wrong, you should be flying through games!

is that the hiper psu? if it is, i have a hiper type-580watt, its brilliant!, looks good, and works perfectly!.

Some people would reccomend against buying a hiper psu, as there not very well known, but from someone who owns one, its deffenitly worth the money, very quiet aswell!

woah, 40fps at 800x600, AA off and medium settings , i usually play on neartly all high settings, and res at 1280x1024, aa and af on, and the last time i played it, i was getting decent fps but freezing sometimes as i only had 1gb of ram, and at the time i was using the x800xt pe with a faulty DFI 865pe motherboard and intel pentium 4 3.0ghz pressy.

if it is not your power supply, i guess you got somthing faulty.

    Tagan
    Hiper
    Enermax
    Antec
    OCZ

All of those brands should be fairly easy to find in the UK, and all are good quality. Any 500W or better unit from them will work fine.

The only thing outside of the PSU that would give you a boost would be jumping to 2GB. BF2 users have reported a little better experience with 2GB. However, this is an optional one, and I'd put that secondary to the PSU.

a new cpu fan wont make you get higher performance in games, infact i am surprised the power supply did aswell, but seen as you have got higher performanc ein games with the new power supply shows that the old power supply was not powerfull enough, a new cooler for your cpu wont increase the performance in games.

what is the specs of your pc now?
place your specs either in the signature, or in the my computer area (located on the blue nav bar at the top)

I do think you need to get some more ram. As you probally already know, BF2 is a ram hog. (it uses up over 2GB of physical ram/page file on my machine). I would say that anyone that plays BF2 should have 2GB of ram to get rid of all the stuttering, any one with a good graphics card and plays on high settings should definitely have 2GB of ram.
