question about hard drive for a dell optiplex gx1 350mhz

    Does anybody know what is the fastest hard drive I can use on this computer. Will this hard drive work "Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 ST3802110A 80GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100" The chipset is a Intel 440BX PIIX4e. Please help if you can.

    Yeah, it should work no problem. I wouldn't put anything larger than a 120GB drive in it, but it's past the 8.4GB limitation.

    It will work but you won't get the most out of the hard drive. Chances are your motherboard won't support ATA-100. Instead it will probably be operating at ATA-33/66
