I installed a new DVD Multi drive last night, replacing an old CD-ROM drive. Of course I unplugged the computer while doing this. As soon as I plugged it back in, the mobo started flashing green and when I hit the power on button, NOTHING happens. I checked all the connections, they're all tight. I unplugged the new unit that was installed thinking the power was incompatible with my PSU, but still, nothing. The blinking on the mobo slows and then stops when I unplug it, but as soon as I plug it back in, the blinking green LED starts up again and there's absolutely no power. No fan turns, nothing. I tried resetting the CMOS and have had no success. Any suggestions?
does your pc meet the minimum spec the DVD drive requires ? try downloading drivers what is your O/S ?
Yes, my computer meets the minimum specs. I have Windows XP (SP2) running. THe computer's only a year old. AMD 64 bit processor, lots of RAM, etc. I would try downloading drivers except the computer will not power on whatsoever. ZERO. Zilch. NO POWER. I unplugged the power supply to the mobo, plugged the power cord into the CPU, and the blinking stopped and it turned a solid green. So I know it's not the power supply. As soon as I plug the power supply back into the mobo, the blinking starts again.

What exactly did you do when you installed the new DVD-ROM drive? Did you touch/unplug anything else in your computer? Make sure the ATX power connector connected to your motherboard is the right way round. Can you confirm you have set the IDE jumpers correctly? Your hard drive should be set to Master and your DVD-ROM set to slave. If your hard drive and DVD-ROM are on different IDE cables then they should both be set to Master. If you look in my signature, you will see 'How To Install A Second Hard Drive'. It covers the basic IDE installation and deals with jumper settings too.
i know this is going to sound :swear: stupid but if you disconnect the new DVD drive can you download new drivers, can you get into safe mode ?
Tried that, no luck. No power. I'm assuming it's the power supply - just ordered a new one from Newegg, so hopefully that'll take care of the problem.
