hey, i have a compaq presario 6420NX and i just recently bought a new video card. unfortunately, i cant get it to work! ...technical support told me i need to update my chipset. but i really have no idea how to do that. i checked the compaq website, but i couldn't find any update for a chipset. can anybody plz help me?
I looked up your specs, and according to what I found, the motherboard uses the VIA KM266 with integrated graphics. If that's the case this should do the job. Scroll down for the 4-in-1 drivers as they support your chipset.
i downloaded it but when i click the link i get an error saying c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT . The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
Try re-downloading the file and unpack it with Winzip and run the application from there. XP *should* open .zip files by default, but there might be a glitch.
k i solved that problem and i was able to download what you gave me but i dont think it updated my chipset because i still cant install the video card.:cramp:
I bought a new video card for my computer. NVIDIA GeForce MX 4000. Yea it's old but its all I could afford, and its better than that S3 crap i was using. I uninstalled my old drivers and put in the new card but when I put in the cd to install it I get an error saying "The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit." Tech support told me I need to update my chipset. No idea what to do.
