hi just reformatted and emmm well i put in the disk and it crashes when its on 5-15% so i reboot and then pops up with ntlrd missing wat is this??????
right it only get about 5 - 15% is this during format or copying of files, the reason i ask is: it sounds like some bad sector on HDD if it happens during format, go to HDD manufacturers website and dowload the free utilities and do a low level format (DESTROYS ALL DATA) and as for NTLDR check this
ntldr error is telling you there is no OS installed on the disk. You've formatted, but are having problems with installing windows? What version of windows are you trying to install?
im installing windows xp and when i boot of the disk sometimes it reads and gets to 5-15% reformatted or just pops up with ntlrd missing press crtl alt del to restart im getting a new copy of the disc so should be able to find out if it was a to scrached up disc (was relly bad) tell you the out come
"Copy the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM files from another computer using the same Operating System." would this work?????
Download Memtest86 - Memory Diagnostic Page and run it for a few hours to see if your memory is causing problems.
soz let me know if im rong but how can i when i only got one hdd and its saying ntlrd missing??? and cant even get it to boot...... maybe coz i tryed to reformat der!!!
ok well i orded a new cdrom drive and im getting a new xp disc so will post back to you on wat happens thx
Memtest doesn't run from Windows. You put it on a floppy or burn an .iso to CD, which is bootable, and boot off of it. By default BIOS settings, it should boot off those before booting off the hard drive. Let Memtest run for a few hours to give your RAM a good thrashing. It won't harm your RAM, but it will stress it to show if you're comming up with any errors.
oh thx just im a real noobie to pcs and thx for bearing with me will giv it ago ive downloaded it and will try it tonight hopfuly thx
Hi, download MHDD program, make bootable floppy or CD disk and check HDDs service area, smart attributes and surface. HDDGURU: MHDD
I used to have this problem myself. It turned out I had a bad stick of ram. If you have any spare ram about, try that instead. If not and you have more than one stick installed, try running off only one of them. If you still have the problem swap them over and try again. If it persists, try buying some new ram. Memory upgrades, graphics cards, flash media, and usb storage at Crucial.com will ensure you get the correct type for your motherboard. The alternate is, it could be your hard-drive. What is the make of it?
well thank gord ive sorted it now thx thought and funnyly enought ive had ram problems to ive started a tread some where just look thx m8
