Prey looks pretty interesting, and it's due out July 11th. I think I'm gonna pick this up to reward myself for paying off my car. :chk:

    There's some interesting concepts:
-You play inside some giant organism, and fight enemies that are acting like you're a virus or something.
-Gravity can be manipulated with switches.
-Apparently, no weapons require ammo...(not sure if this is true)
    -You don't die when 'killed'

It's based off the Doom 3 engine, btw. Should run fine on any decent box.

It does look pretty good. I might get that as a reward for ... errrr.... Keeping XP running for 5 months!!

Yeah I think it looks cool. But to demanding for my vid card. I will upgrade to a 7600gt as soon as I can. Hopefully 1 gig and athlon 3k will handle it ok. It should. I think

I think having 1GB will really help for starters. As long as you have a decent video card (X700/6600) you should be able to play it at a decent res. I'm not to worried considering how I can play Quake 4 smoothly. If I can't play it at 1024x768 comfortably, then I may have to look at a 7600GT.

Yeah, maybe I should put another gig of Ram in as my video card isn't exactly brilliant.

It looks interesting but I think it will be like Painkiller in terms of what to do...just run about and kill everything, with nice eye candy and sick physics.

Well, that kinda describes most FPS games...well, the basics of an FPS game.

The demo is available for download. I know Gamespot and Fileshack have it. Played through it, and it's certainly different than any FPS I've played before. I never knew a Cherokee indian could use so many f bombs.

Demo is definitely cool. Cursing Native American, Blue Oyster Cult as background music at one point. FREAKY guns and cool powers, out of body experience type stuff. Its worth a buy, big time. oh yeah sweet graphics too. B, were you also grossed out by the green eggs and how they were spewed out by the weird sphincter? Very shiny boogery backgrounds lol.

I have a feeling that there's going to be more disgusting things in store given the organic setting.

The Prey demo is one of the coolest FPS games I have played. In no other game do I walk into a room and look at every angle of the room (including the ceiling). Also its nice to see a decent sized demo, more than just one level.

Well, Aliens v Predator has something similar to wallwalking if you play the alien.

...but, yeah, the demo is good, unlike the Quake 4 demo. If it was some no-name franchise, that demo would've killed a lot of sales.

This game deserves to sell (even though it probably wont) on artistic merit alone. Its got to be the most creative an imaginative games i've seen for years.

Its also the first game to ever give me motion sickness!

Downloading now, since all of you are so positive about the game it must be really good.

    :edit:

I've played the single and multiplayer mode available in the demo. This game hasn't caught my eye before, It looks promising! I was expecting Pray to feel as if like playing Doom 3 or Quake 4, but becasue of the new features ( spirit realm / walking on ceilings / a pet guide ) it doens't feel like those. It does have that "plasticy" look some people complain about. Weapons look as if they're living beings, characters get more attention, and the story seems to have the nescessary depth too.

And the good thing about multiplayer is that all of the cool tricks you can do in the single player mode, you can do in multiplayer too. It's fast and intense as the multiplayer action in Doom 3 and Quake 4, but with a twist.

The requirements are more towards Quake 4, not Doom 3 as it uses an upgraded version of the Doom 3 engine like Quake 4 does.

I'm really looking foward to Prey big time. The game's been in the making for 5 years now (they're planning on using the proceeds from Prey to pay for further developement for Duke Nukem' Forever, hopefully that means I'll be able to play it before I start balding...). The Doom 3 engine is really pretty awesome if it can pump out visuals like this with just a few modifications. Some of the best I've seen ever. And as far as an FPS goes it's about as original as you'll ever get. I'm liking that spirit walking idea. Now if only my PC was functional... :(

ID game engines seem to do very well. Not to say it's the engine here, but alot of the games I like are based off an ID engine. Most of the others are Unreal-based. I'm definitely picking up Prey next Tuesday. I'm hoping it's a fairly long game, but we'll see.
Let's just say I plan on putting up a review of Prey.

I'm expecting 12 hours or so, longer would be better provided it doesn't feel repetitive (which I doubt it will). Yeah Epic and Id really have it down when it comes to engines, the source engine is obviously awesome but I personally feel Doom 3 (and other D3 based games) look a bit more polished than games using the source engine. Could just be me though.
