I have decided to buy a new graphics card but being new to upgrading my PC i decided i needed some help deciding what to chose. I was looking at the Radeon X1300. At the moment i am running a X300, and have found it has not been all that good. Here are my scecs.
For next time, we didn't need all that information. You have a PCI express card, so you can easily upgrade to a card like the 6600GT for most games. the X300 really is a budget card, and the GeForce 6600GT will better the X1300 and offer good all round performance.
Well, i only have a small budget. I wanted it for gaming, so i can get the best performance for like hl2, oblivion etc. My budget is preferably less than £100.
The 6600GT will definately run HL2,mines at 1280 x 1024 with high detail and low AA. I dont know about Oblivion as i've never seen it run on my 6600GT. Far Cry is silky smooth as well at max detail and is even playable with HDR lighting switched on at 1280 x 1024. What are the specs of the rest of your system?
You're not going to get much of a jump going from an X300 to an X1300. I'm with Addis: the GeForce 6600GT is a real good option. With PCIe x16 versions hovering right around $100, that's a very good option. The 6600 is a little slower, but I would avoid the 6600LE, since it has half the pipelines of the other 6600's and is probably closer in performance to a 6200.

Not sure how the PCI-e 6600 compares with the old AGP 6600GT, sure somebody can help out. But if you can squeeze another £25 into your budget this 7600GT looks amazing value to me :- Ebuyer - 7600GT If you cant stretch to that then perhaps consider another 512MB RAM with the 6600, that should help speed things up a little. Ideally you need another 512MB anyway but as always the budget doesn't always allow for everything
dont get teh 6600 over the 6600GT the gains are more than their price difference, that 7600Gt is also great value, coz it reaches close to 6800ultra performance

the difference is the bandwidth, from 8x on agp to 16x on pcie. Also, the voltage, most entry level gfx cards don't need extra power from the PSU on the pcie socket where it needed one on the AGP. If your mobo only supports the PCIe socket, it's not compatible with AGP, physically and if you do manage to put it on - it wont work. So say goodbye to the AGP socket. OH you edited it! I would go for the Inno 3D, simply because it's cheaper and the XFX adds more RAM which was not needed and it's Ram is only DDR2 whereas the Ram on the inno 3d is DDR3. My only con for the Inno 3d is that I've never heard of it, but that's not an issue here.
virtually there's none, maybe a frame or two apart but nothing special, since they both have the same GPU.
