HP tape 200Gb C7971A

    Hi,

    Im newbie to these forums and IT.... and im sorry if i have posted this in the wrong section :(
    I was wondering if anyone can explain to me how to format a tape that i have.
    Its a HP C7971A 200 Gb. How can i format this? i am keen to learn how this would work.

    Any help is appreciated thanks

    This kinda stuff isnt used by home pc users, I certainly haven't used this storage.

    Id try looking through the forums first, if it doesnt help just contact HP.





    Looking at the HP site, some of the tapes say they are specifically rewritable. Seeing as your tape is only $35 its seems you might have to buy a new tape.

    Q/A 5 Says by erasing the tapes."this will destroy pre-recorded servo information and render the cartridge unusable" I dont know the context of this statement.
