Any old laptop HDD?

:hi: hi peeps basically i just wanna know if any laptop hard drive will work with my patriot 3030 laptop

i have a 1yr old patriot 3030 1.6GHz and managed to spill me coffee in the keyboard and now it wont turn on at all, except when i remove the hard drive

so now i gotta buy a new hdd to see if its the hard drive thats faulty (which i kinda doubt it) so i was wondering if almost any laptop hard drive from a shop would do, or do i have to get a patriot one sorry i'm a bit lame with this
