So I have gotten my cable and I'm loving it but when I went to download BF2 again I get an error message saying that bf2 failed to installed and to try again from the beginning. I have done that and it didnt work. I have deleted all BF2 files my search engine could find and never have downloaded the demo. I have installed it twice b4 and never had this problem. Why would it start now? Any ideas? thx
I dont know what exactly your talking about but I dont think my problem has anything to do with patches. My problem is installing the game itself.
I highly doubt that the download is corrupt b/c I downloaded the game before and now I am trying to reinstall it and its not working. And i'm using wizard.
I dont get what you mean "download BF2 again". Can you be more specific? For example what part of the installation is failing? The installation off the discs? Or an install of special forces/Armored fury from EA Downloader? You cant get vanilla BF2 via EA Downloader, have you got a copied game?
Well I had the BF2 patch v1.3 on my comp and deleted it and tried installing BF2 again. Usually the problem occured at the end of the 1st disk during installation but this time it happened at the beginning of the second which I found strange. And by installing BF2 I mean just that. Installing BF2. You know with the disks. and no i dont have a copy of BF2
You don't have a copy as in you're installing a downloaded version of the disk images or do you mean you bought the game, you're not installing from 'copied' disks? If you don't actually own the game, that would be called piracy and I don't believe HWF supports or promotes such actions. I'd just go pay to eB, pay the $50 and be done with it. The game is well worth the money, if you got some nice bandwidth and some friends to play with!
Wow how many times do I have to say this. I bought Battlefield 2 from newegg.com LEGALLY and the game will not install.
Perhaps the game is scratched, have you looked at the actual CDs? i was having the same problem with FEAR. It's freakin annoying. I installed the game off of another friend's cd then used my cd key. I contacted Sierra about it and they said they'd charge me ten bucks for the cd. On top of that, i couldn't play the game b/c it was the 5th cd that was messed up and in FEAR the cd's gotta be in. I dont' want to use one of them cracks cuz then i can't play multi. DAMNIT!
Do a clean install. 1)Remove BF2 from Add/remove programs in control panel (If applicable) 2)Delete all BF2 related files in C:\Documents and Settings\Battlefiled 2\ 3)Click Start, Run... regedit. Search for battlefield 2 entries in the registry. Then delete them.
Sorry about that, just trying to clarify what you had meant. Agreed, you should remove all the BF2 references or reg entries on your system, reinstall to v1.0 from the disks and patch using the full update (around 400 MB I believe). While updating, just let it go for a while, even if it looks like it froze up. This happened to me and if I left it alone for a while, it ended up finishing up just fine.
I registered BF2 and im not sure if I deleted it. I have deleted BF2 through add or remove programs and I have typed BF2 and Battlefield 2 into my search engine and deleted all those files. If anyone knows how I can make sure if my BF2 registration is deleted that might do the trick. thx everyone
No.. the registry is a part of Windows. You have to be carefull when deleting within the registry.. Click "Start" Click "run" type "regedit" Hit Ctrl+F3 to do a search. Search for "Battlefield 2" Delete all entries for battlefield by hitting delete F3 to repeat... ... ...
First of all I cant install thus the problem. I have tried installing the game many many times. Now I will try your hopefull solution uzzle.
Either im really bad with directions or your missing a step or my computer is gay. It wouldnt suprise me if it was the last one. this is wut im doing Clicking start going to run typing regedit hitting ctrl+F3 and nothing happens I have also tried hitting enter after typing regedit into the run program.
alright mate, sounds like your BF2 woes just dont seem to end....... if u remember, ive replied b4 to your threads bout bf2 and i have also (unfortuneately) had this prob. i had installed bf2 several times b4 and deleted it due to various probs. when i tried to reinstall it the install wizard informed me bf2 had failed to install, please start again. i noticed the installation was sticking when trying to open the "client.......zip" file. i tried everything but i only managed to get round this by reinstalling XP (lucky for me it was new computer, so no important files to lose). i did it coz i didnt seem to find any info on the web bout this particular prob and basically couldnt be arsed to f**k around wating for a solution! hope u have better luck.
