I've had a repeating problem with my 32gb raptor. It seems every so often it will loose power or something, because I can hear it spin out and I get a blue screen of death, and then after a reboot it wont see the drive anymore, so I have to wiggle/push in the power cable. The power cable is pretty secure on it, and the computer is stationary so I dont see how it could come loose. All I know is that this problem is driving me crazy. Anyone know whats up??
The 4-pin molex power connector might have an insecure electical connection! Thus, the hdd might switch on and off with slight pressure to the connector or the housing itself. Did you try using another plug from your psu? Does the problem occur when running games or other appliances? Then the problem could be psu related.
although they work most of the time, Marcus is right, the molex connector does work loose, as the flow of eletricity does slightly vibrate connections (very very slightly) this is the reason the molex connectors become loose, try plugging another molex connector (if there is one) its nothing to do with your PSU
Thanks for the help! I took out the regular connector and used one of my SATA power connectors, problem hasnt come up again yet, but it hasnt been too long.
Well that's good news. It'd probably be a good idea if you marked the dodgy PSU connector with a pen - so you know not to use it in future
good idea mega, personally though i use dodgy molex connectors, and just remove and reinsert the dodgy connector until a good connection is made (usually only 1 or 2 times or waggle the connector)
