laptop hd wont spinup

    hello i got a fault on my lappy hdd it has bought software on it so would like to get it working. when its in the laptop the laptop wont turn on. if its connected to the pc via ata-ide the power on the lappy hd doesnt seem to work it wont spin up

    any help would be aprachated

    Get some diagnostic programs from the manufacturuer for it. Some companies release some really useful tools.

    hi thanks for the message ive looked on google but cant find anything that is good for the problem if you know of any programs i would like to know

    fyi: the hdd doesnt spin up, move, click or anything, just hope the circuits are fine for tests worse thing is windows doesnt detect it

    Does BIOS detect it though? If so enable SMART monitoring, then upon POST it should give a quick report. Doesnt always detect problems though.

    What harddrive is it? Ill have a look around. I think ive got some stuff for samsung and IBM drives somewhere.

    It is a bit worrying in that it doesnt spin up. It should do something really.

    i just ran a seagate dos tool where you have to boot from floppy but it needs the drive to be detected, it sees normal drive c with windows but not the laptop hard disk

    bios doesnt see it either its like the drive isnt getting power i suppose a software tool that reads the chips of the hdd maybe it can see wot the problem is
