So...what game monsters freaked you out the most? I think the #1 was the OctoBrain in DukeNukem 3D. Doom 3 had freaky parts, but that was mostly due to the game design (Hell level anyone?).
The monster that freaked me out the most was that wierd like devil girl thing in F.E.A.R, it was just freaky when all those flames came up and the devil girl thing was walking along, and sometimes sneaking about, i dunno what the devil thing is, if its just a normal little girl ith a red dress on. I dont think it could be classed as a monster, but i do anyway, it was freaky!
Haha that little girl was hilarious, just because a guy at school was playing F.E.A.R. on his laptop in the common room and people were watching, they all damn near cacked themselves when the little girl thing appeared, was funny watching that!!
i was invincible and kept wacking her, she's pretty damnd strong for a little girl, twas like a brick wall
I would have to say the baby head bugs from doom three, thats just freakin messed up in the head.. and the giant moth from resident evil. just something bout a bug that big that creeps me out.
I'd have to agree with that. I recently got Silent Hill 4 for PC just to see what all the commotion was about..and god, some of the creatures freak the hell out of me. Hmmm...what else? Doom 3's spiders were pretty bad...arachnophobia. Anyone remember the old FPS Blood? Well, some of the enemies out of that used to freak the hell out of me, especially when you light them on fire with the trusty flare gun I've been playing a lot of creepy games lately. I think I'm disturbed...Call of Cthulhu has been sapping my free time. Mutated fishermen are a bit freaky...
Blood eh? You'll have to show me that sometime if you've still got it For me the fast zombies from HL2 were pretty creepy for me. They didn't necessarilly make me jump alot but hearing that pipe rattling as they came closer desperately trying to feed more shells in my shotgun was a tense experience for sure. I doubt any of you have played it but an old game called Abuse, aside from being very novel for a sidescroller by offering fulll mouse control for shooting was pretty freaky for me way back. The demented animal screeches you'd hear, and not know where they were coming only to have crazy and brutal aliens drop from the ceiling as the lights dropped. Great fun that game was.
I never found anything scary in half life 2, i must not of been paying much attention to that game, only played about quarter of the game then my dad took the game on from there. Even though all these scary monsters in games are like scary lol, its good, intresting, it's like the scary and freaky stuff is fun, i like horror films coz of the wierd stuff and scary stuff, but it just doesent freak me out more than F.E.A.R and DooM 3, in doom 3 sometimes i closed my eyes, its just scary when your in a pretty dark room and then monsters are jumping at you and just coming from no were.
the first time i played FarCry and the monsters there scared the crap out of me cus i was looking at them from about 15m away when it jumped torwards me and ate my face!! but i shot them with my M4 hah
Wow damn i would say the freakiest thing (it isn't really a monster) i've seen are the damn little bugs from HL1, they disturbed me alot, i still play that game i MP, and they scare the hell out of me, the whole game does...
Yeah those creatures from FarCry did make me jump before I knew what to expect. I'm just minding my own business, traversing the jungle and from behind it pounces on my back, I chucked the mouse around on that occurance.
It was a big focus actually. The virus thing was turning the soldiers into those creatures. It also gave you a chance to fight two different types of enemies at once and play it stategically as in let one side weaken the other sort of thing.
How about almost anything from Aliens vs Predator 2 Zombie Dobermans from Resident Evil Vampire worms from Another World (Amiga game)
vampire worms Wish I had that game now. Yeah face huggers are very cool and creepy, if they did a next gen version of AVP I'd so buy it.
Many Resident Evil games had monsters which freaked me out; Tyrant and William Birkin from Resident Evil 2. One moment the room you were in was safe, the other moment you had that guy running after you. All zombies in the previous version were pretty slow with the exception of hell-hounds. The introduction of a strong and fast character in a long black jacket was something I didn't expect, it scared the hell out of me. The improved version of this first Resident Evil for the gamecube had zombies which mutated into stronger foes over time, having played the original too, I really didn't expect those damn zombies to get up again. Resident Evil 0 had leech zombies which were slow but could kill you from across the room, plus they were able to follow you through doors, whereas other zombies would seem uncapable of opening a door. And last but not least Resident Evil 4............... everything scared the hell out of me :O
