Depends what you mean by power. Whats a pentium 4 2.4 1.7 ghz though? 2.4ghz or 1.7ghz. If the P4 is 2.4ghz it is definatly the better cpu, whichever flavour 2.4ghz it is. If its the 1.7ghz it will be a willamette core which I think was only a 256kb cache. The celeron would probably be quicker even though its got half the cache.
Depends what celeron it is, some celerons have 256KB catch, even my old 1.2ghz Celeron had 256kb catch.
dpends what u want to use it for really. if its gaming, then drfinitely the p4 2.4ghz and if u just want to browse the internet etc, then get the celeron as its cheaper but either way, i wud get the p4 2.4ghz as it can play games, multimedia and has got better features etc.
Yeah that Celeron (2.7/128/400) Means: 2.7GHz 128KB Cache 400MHz FSB The Celerons based on the Northwood cores had 128KB Cache, the newer ones based on Prescott had 256KB I believe.
thats wierd, how come has an old celeron s 1.2ghz from an emachines 150DVD (intel 810mobo) got 256kb catch? :s. Either way the Pentium 4 2.4ghz wins, and will be better for anything.
are you going ot be buying one of those cpu's or have you allready got them, if your going to buy one, try and get a Pentium 4 3ghz prescott if your motherboard supports it.
Pentium 4 defenetly, my old comp was a pentium 4 and it ran OK but when i compared it to my friends Celeron, my old Pentium 4 blew the Celeron away
