Hi I got a flat LCd screen (ACER 1916) My graphics card overheated and my computer stopped. I opened it and fixed the fan on the card and got it working again. (This happens maybe once every month) The problem is that this time, my monitor got all dark. It "is" possible to get it working "ok" but not good, by adjusting gamma, brightness etc etc in the computer and a little on the monitor. But it never becomes like it was before. I tried the monitor on my laptop to see if it was the card or the monitor and same thing happened, the monitor is simply dark. The monitor also seems to have gotten some weird internal settings, for example the screen got an "Auto Adjust" button, and when I press it, the screen actually gets its correct colors for maybe 1 second before it "Adjusts" itself back to its current dark colors. The first time I checked brightness options etc in the monitor after this happened, brightness was actually at 137 even though max nr is 100. I then brought it down some and it won't go over 100 now. Also there's three different color settings, "warm", "cold" , and user. Warm used to have redish colors.. but is now blue.. cold is even more blue. Only in user options do I manage to get the screen somewhat "ok" by adjusting all three RGB colors to 100. Anyway.. if anyone has any idea how to get the monitor back to normal again I'd really appreciate it.
well i cant see a graphics card been able to damage the monitor, sounds like you had settings adjusted in your display drivers that made the monitor look less dark?, thats the only thing i can think of.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver? I dont know if this would make a difference but i suppose its worth 2 reboots for a try.
