    Greetings to all.

Could someone shed some light on this please:

    Pc:
    Asus Pundit P1-AH1 (barebone)
    nforce 430 chipset
    integrated GF 6150 graphics controler (1xDVI, 1xVGA, 1xtv-out)
other info: cpu athlon 64 3ghz, 1gb ram, oses: linux and win xp.

I wish to connect two monitors to it, both working at 1680x1050 (Philips 200W6CS/00). Obviously one monitor would connect to the dvi port and second would connect to the vga port. This pc is used solely for office work (office apps, net browsing etc).

    Questions:

    1. Would the graphics card be able to drive the monitors at their native resolutions?

    2. If the answer to the above is yes, then would there be much of a difference in the quality of the display between the two?

    3. Is it a good idea in general to use the setup as described above or should I consider a system with a graphics card that has two DVI ports?

Also consider that there is no option of upgrading the graphics controler on this pc.

    Thanking you in advance, karjola.

What you want to do, you can do with that setup.

i was running 2 17" samsungs on a radeon 9250 for a while and one was using a dvi to vga converter and the other was just plain vga and they looked the same. not sure how the converter affects it. but i think you will be happy with them. when you install them you should check out the program called ultramon. it works well for multi-monitor setups.

Adding a second monitor doesnt effect performance. I have been running dual monitor for ages and have benchmarked both scenarios and saw no difference. As xboxsoli said, Ultamon is definitely worth getting.

Mind you that was with a dedicated graphics card, hopefully the onboard graphics has enough grunt.
