I have been looking around at laptops for the best choice for college. I really want to have the option to play my games (bf2, source, cod2) without getting wrecked by a slow computer. If anyone knows a great deal for around $1000 (+/- $300) please let me know! I want to have it with the new Intel Duo Core because I heard it beats down AMD. Anyone know the best option?

This is one of the options I am looking at:

Acer AS5672WLMi-ATI X1600 Intel Core Duo 15.4" Wide XGA ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 NoteBook - Retail at Newegg.com

The only problem is the comments read that the computer can run extremely hot. If this is the one I get, what I can do to prevent it from heating up like that?

Other than making sure it has proper ventalation not alot (make sure it sits on a hard flat surface).

i would go with AMD, but thats my personal choice. if you compare AMD and Intel with Price (ie that AMD costs the same as that Intel), AMD smash the :swear: out of intel in performance.

Really? I thought the new Intel Core Duo was suppose to be way better than AMD's Turion? Wrong or right?

There are different versions of the core duo, just as there are different versions of the Turion. Even if the best core duo beats the best Turion, that doesnt mean that ALL the core duo's beat the Turion's.

I dont buy Intel chips if i can avoid it from a moral point of view, anti-trust being the word on that one. So there are no other CPU's to me other than AMD if that makes senee :p

Dont get stuck into the AMD are better than Intel, or Intel are better than AMD. Look at the specifications, look at the price, look at another laptop & repeat until your happy you've found a good deal!
