I just installed another identical 256mb pc400 (not pc3200 @ 400mhz-the old stuff) and yet the computer isnt recognizing the new RAM. I know for sure its working RAM b/c it was just in another computer. Any ideas?

Well, first thing would be to make sure it's properly installed. Reseat it in the slot to double check. Sure, it's simple, but it's an easy thing to try.

If that fails, take the other stick(s) out and run the problem stick by itself.

If you still cant get all your ram to be recognised check how many ram sticks your motherboard can support. ie If you hav 3 slots you might only be able to use 2 sticks of ddr400 or 3 sticks of ddr333.

By identical do you mean the rated speed or the actual brand ?

Because like B said, if both sticks work fine in that mobo by themselves, but not together, they're simply incompatible.
