lost photos

my freinds hd died on him i can access it as a slave and access the files on the drive however his photo file is password protected through his logon password when the system worked i have the password
but i am still unable to access the pictures to burn them off for him. i want to save his pic files before i format the drive and rebuild his system any advice will be very welcome thanks

the hard drive in question was running win xp, and is now corrupt.the account that the pictures are on are password protected and unreachable while i am using the drive a s a slave.i can see the file the pictures are in but wen i try to acess them i get an access denied box . i can not log onto the account and i can not boot from the hard drive to access the account as normal. the only thing i have is the password to work on, i have tried to use a file retrieval programe with no success

 

What program was he using? SOMETIMES you can open the files w/ a hex editor and pull out the image files (only if they are poorly wrapped) if they are bit shifted or something you may be SOL unless you can find a good crack for that app.

Or try and email the company

To be honest I dont understand your problem. What is it saying when you try to access the images?
Post a screen shot of the message if you can. I would have thought you could access them even if you do need to enter a password to enter windows.

Maybe a Linux liveCD would help? Knoppix is your best bet.

 

Just a thought: have you asked your friend for the password?

 

Can anyone help please I dumped some photos in trashcan and the deleted same from library and emptied trash can i get them back anyway thanks

 

I thought that when you plug a drive in as a slave, you automatically become the admin for that drive. I could be mistaken though...
