    hi everyone here,

I am using, motherboard Intel 915GAV, Some friend told me to replace this MOBO with Intel's D101GGC .

i get a comparison for both of the MOBOs on internet but as i m not a technical person so, i m unable to make a final decision, please visit following links for the detail of them:

    1) 915GAV

    2) D101GGC

Please make a comparison and tell me, should i replace my MOBO right now or not ? i 've found that the later one have just 2 slots of memory. but mine have 4 ???

    further more:

Does the Graphic Chip Set (of this MOBO) supports the future games and future DirectX 10? Is it enough for the games that will come till the end of this year ?

Actually, i like to play games, but still don't have 3d card, i am planning to buy 3d card at the end of this year,(some budget problem is also there [;)]) someone told me that i should wait for directX 10. and then buy such card wich will support it. Is it right ?

    thanks in advance,

    regards
    Eshban

There seems to be very little difference.

The newer one has an ATI chipset whereas your one has an Intel chipset.
Its irrelevant really which is best because the boards generally have same features. I haven't looked at the chipset specs but im guessing the main difference is that the ATI chipset supports dual core CPUs whereas the Intel one doesnt.

All onboard graphics cards are pretty lame so I wouldnt let that bother your decision. I dont know which is better but the ATI Radeon X300 on the newer board only seems to have 128mb of onboard RAM whereas your current Intel GMA 900 seems to have 224mb. I dont know anything about onboard graphics so dont really know if the extra ram helps all that much. The For playing games on the odd few occasions a cheap graphics card is the way to go. A Voodoo 5 and a mx420 has done me well up until now. £100 each at the time.

The newer board supports dual core processors.

The newer board is a micro ATX board. You currently have a full ATX board. No point in buying a mATX board if you have an ATX case. I dont know if it will even fit? Probably but pointless.

The newer board also has a newer revision of the onboard soundcard, something not worth upgrading for TBH.

Your right in that the newer one has half the ram slots, but it suuports the same ammount of ram, 4GB.

    PCI slots are the same.

SATA, IDE and USB are the same.

The newer one has ethernet which yours doesnt have.

If you are looking at upgrading your motherboard there are far better ones you could go for. I personally have a soft spot for Asus so wouldnt even bother looking at the Intel boards. Personal opinion, ive never used an intel board, im sure they are pretty stable boards really!

Thanks a lot for ur reply,

Actually, i forgot to mension that i just have to pay very little amount in this replacement.

    about 15 Pounds.

So what u recomend ? should i go for the new one ?

It's appealing me from Game's point of view, While i m scared for the RAM's slot's perspective, Does this board reliable or not ?

    waiting 4 ur suggestions,

    regards

I personally wouldn't bother. The only thing going for the new board is the dual core cpu support and the possibility of a better onboard graphics card. Id save another £20-30 and buy a second hand graphics card from ebay.

As for the quality of intel boards.... not a clue but im guessing they are quite stable.
