I was going to download Thunderbird for my email client since I don't like Outlook. While I was at Mozilla.com I thought that I would update Firefox. Bad move, now when I open Firefox all I get is a white page. Toolbar across the top with everything dull, and it just says "done" in the bottom left corner. It appears that I have lost everything. Download manager, password saver, everything. I am running Kaspersky Anti-virus and a screen poped up during the download and I think I clicked allow, but I did it real fast. I tried downloading again and still the same thing. I disabled Kaspersky (glup) and tried it again with the same result. Now I am totally lost. I really don't want to use IE but for now what choice do I have?
    Help Please from anyone.

Uninstall the Firefox browser first and then install it again. For your extensions, you can download them anytime and it will take just couple of minutes....

it sound to me as though the home page is set to <blank> uninstalling and reinstalling FF would eliminate any problems with FF, can you edit -> preferences ?

Can not edit preferences. When I uninstall and reinstall, it all remains blank.
Have tried multiple times. Am starting to have issues with some games that my wife plays not remembering after she saves also. Really confused. About ready to burn some importandf things to disk and reinstall the entire computer. Linux or wait for Vista?

Or maybe rebuild the whole thing. I am able to do upgrades now. Maybe FX64? Or something like that. Want to stay under $1000.00 Us. What do you think? I could still use lots of the hardware that I have now.

first try reinstalling your OS, leave everything as it is, and boot from your OS bootable CD, install OS on top of itself, when prompted do NOT format your partitions, you may have to reinstall updates and some programs and drivers

what OS are you using ?

I had a similar problem not long ago only I still had the address bar so carried on using it for a while. Reinstall didnt help at first.

I fixed it by uninstalling FF with control panel. I deleted the directory in Program Files. In Documents and Settings there is a Mozilla folder in Application Data and also another Mozilla folder in Local Setings/Application Data. Delete both of those, you might want to make a backup of your bookmarks first. Its just a html file called Bookmarks. My Bookmarks file was empty but FF makes backups. You'll see the folder when you go in the Mozilla Folder.

Also I deleted 3 entries from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE in the registry.

Reinstall and it should be fine.

I think it was an update which spannered ours up. I was only bothered about my bookmarks, seeing as I had the address bar I though "sod it" and carried on using it.

It sounds like a corrupted profile... I would follow Zeus Info, This is how I fix my
problems with firefox all the time.just make sure you delete the firefox folder under C:programs/Mozilla firefox.. then try a reinstall...
