    Hi,

I have a friends laptop I'm trying to get using the wireless broadband connection. I know its not the network (router) having a problem as I have a computer using it fine.

The laptop is connecting to the network, using WEP encryption and connects fine with the router issuing an IP address correctly.

The only problem is the Internet is not working on it for some reason. The admin router settings are not blocking it as I only have WEP encryption which I have entered into this laptop.

When I open IE its just going to a Page cannot be found page etc, tried using different web pages aswell, so its not the website thats down.

As well as trying the microsoft wireless connection, which connects to network but not broadband. I have tried using the IntelĀ® PRO/Wireless utility already on the computer but cannot even connect to network using this as it says something about database not being able to view profiles. So this utility doesn't even connect to the wireless network.

Thanks for any help in advance.

First off try ping'ing a site.
Start > Run > Type 'cmd' > Type 'ping www.yahoo.co.uk' on the command prompt.

    Post back the result.
Do you have any software firewall installed in the laptop?

    I'll try that tonight.

There is a Security (firewall) installed but I've disabled this and still no luck.

Will get back to you later about the ping result.

    Thanks
