Hi all, I just put together a new machine. Asus P5B (non-deluxe), E6600, OCZ DDR2-800 2x1GB, Antec Sonata 2 case. It all works together quite nicely, except that I cannot plug in the front-side USB ports to the motherboard. When I plug in the connector from the case to the motherboard, the system won't post. Instead, it powers off, and then powers on again, with the Blank Screen of Death. More precisely: After pushing the power button, the fans (PSU, chasis, and video card) spin for a while (6 seconds or so), then shut off for some 2 seconds. Then they all start spinning again, but there's no ghost in the machine. No video, no beeps. If I disconnect the front-side USB ports, everything is fine, the machine posts, boots, and kicks ass. EDIT: I'm using the latest BIOS (0309, 8/14/2006). Any ideas? Thanks, Lukasz P.S. No, I'm not trying to plug the 1394 port into the USB connector.
I have the exact same problem. Ive got an Asus P4S800. Ive had this rig for 3-4 years and have never worked out why it happens. If anyone can help us sort this... GREAT! I take it the female end of USB isnt revision dependant? Even if it were USB 2 is backwards compatible sooo. Thats the only answer I can come up with.
