200GB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW, no more Hard drives needed for storage , i bet these disks are almost as much as a 200gb Hard Drive tho lol.
Very impressive, but yeah likely to be very expensive and the burn time would probably be about a day but concidering the size and likely rewritability it reallly would be a slim portable HDD which is very cool.
Nah, wont see the end of viruses, next thing they should plan on trying to make next is kind of Blue Ray disks, but were you're able to read/write just like off a Hard Drive but with faster data transfer :good:
£500 for a Blue Ray Recorder? damn, thats allot, hopefully they will shoot down in price if they get competition or something.
It so is a rip off just for a drive. If it was me i would get a 1TB Raid and a second 7950 GX for that much!! :good:
you can get 1TB for just over £300, leaving enough money for a nice gpu the prices are redicilius, and yes they will most likely drop prices upon compition, proves unnecessary overcharging.
It's a big waste of money right now in my opinion. I would never pay that much for storage. I'd rather just burn multiple dual layer DVD's. The one cool thing I came across awhile back, I'm not sure if you guys have seen it or not, is that blueray disks are super durable. They have some kind of coating on the underside so that you can actually take some steel wool to the surface without damaging the disk or loosing data. Very impressive if you ask me.
bah! why would they do that when there's no1 else doin it so theres no compition, if they're making more profit from unprotected surfaces, why change?
the longer they last the less CD's you dammage hense the less you buy = lower profits. simple! there is no compitition for over-protection surfaces (yet) if one starts doin it they'll be the first ones to waste money on research for ideas they're only gonna lose profit for
I don't think an early adopter is going to loose money on innovation. If they're the only ones doing it than people are going to look at that and think "sweet, that's the technology I want" and then buy from them rather than companies that don't offer protective technology. People usually look at the new features and wizbang technology when concidering a new purchase.
