If you're in the market for a USB 2.0 multi-card reader, for goodness' sake, stay away from the In-Win i500! I've never in my life used a worse card reader, including the 6-in-ones that come free with MSI motherboards. And it's worth mentioning that the MSI readers break quite easily.

The trouble with the i500 is the fact that it is totally inconsistant. The device tends to 'flicker' between a state of normal operation and complete failure. I even went through the process of flashing the firmware and updating all the drivers, yet I continued to experience the same problems in both Windows and Linux. The drive magically dissapears from detected hardware, then returns (all at random intervals). When the drive does work, it works perfectly. When it doesn't work, it simply doesn't work at all.

The bottom line: At a cost of about $25US, there are better internal card readers that cost less. After all, any card reader that works consistantly is better than the i500!
