I just bought a 250GB Hitachi internal HD (ATA/IDE) for my computer, when i turn on my computer it just says 'Error loading OS'. Can someone help me and try to make this HD to work.
Set the jumpers properly... or either one on the IDE0 (last connection of the IDE cable) and IDE1(connection in the middle of the cable).... You need to set the HDD with OS as a master.
I set my jumpers to master. and still same problem, i got some pictures: the top one is my new HD that im trying to get to work.
I am not able to understand your picture correctly due to the fact its very messy... Anyways just wanna make sure that you have done this.... 1. Cable selection. IDE Cable :----------:---: MC-------SC---PC MC=Main/mobo COnnector, SC=Secondary connector, PC = Primary Connector. HD1 = Primary (Which includes your windows) HD2 = Extra Storage.... Connect PC with HD1 and SC with HD2. Then your Jumpers.... [::::] This is how your jumper pins are.... if [|:::] jumper on the first two pins, Master. or [:|::] Jumper on the second two pins, secondary. Just check them and reply back if it doesnt solves your problem....
The thing is, HD1 (the one that came with Windows) is a SATA.. And the one i've bought is a ATA/IDE (HD2). =/ This is a pretty wierd problem because the first day i bought it and installed it, it worked perfect. after i shut down my PC it stopped working ever since..
You shouldnt be having any problem then. You dont even need to set jumpers for this and the only thing you need to do is to set the SATA HDD as a Master from your BIOS.
Hm, so i can take off the jumpers? And how do i setup my BIOS? Sorry I'm a newb when it comes to these stuff.
Leave the jumpers inside. They wont affect you. When you start your computer, you must see a button like Del or F2 to enter to BIOS on the first screen. Press that button immediately to enter into BIOS. In Bios, you will find somthing like Boot Device Priority, there you can set your drives accordingly... 1. Floppy Drive 2. Optical Drive 3. SATA HDD 4. IDE HDD Its just an example coz all the bios that comes out with different companies Mobos are different, so cant tell you the exact are or something. Good Luck.
There's no option like that when i restart my computer >_< All i see is: <ESC=Boot Menu> <F1=Setup> <F10 System Recovery> I tried pressing F2 and Del and nothing happens..
Try F1, but actually computer displays this option on the first screen when you start up ur PC in Lightening White colour and you need to press that key immediately.
This is kind of BIOS you will gonna see. Here under BOOT, you can setup your Device Property. This is an example of how your computer screen I wants u to look at. In this screen, you need to press Del to enter into BIOS.
There was nothing about BIOS in Setup expect that it told me my BIOS were 3.14 and something about a date which was like 11/2005. But i couldn't highlight it. I'm going to try pressing F2 right when my computer turns on. If i can't get it to work, I'm off to bed.. It's 11:58PM and I have school tomorrow morning. Hey man I appreciate all the help your giving me, because i'm not too good when it comes to these stuff.. Thanks!! EDIT: I didn't see the post, um when i start up my PC that screen (the second picture) barely shows and if it does it shows for like a split sec. I'll see.. EDIT UPDATE: I figured out how to show that screen (Picture 2). I went to boot and this is how i set it up and then.. (Maxtor is my HD that came with windows) After that i went to Save and Exit and still didn't work.... T_T
IT FINALLY WORKS! Wow man, i gotta give a big THANKS to you Karanislove! Thanks for bareing with me and my newbiness.
