Hello everyone. I am having a problem and hopefully someone can assist me. I recently had my hard drive crash and I didnt bring my system discs with me to Iraq. I installed XP professional on my HP Media Center PC m1280n system and I have completed all windows updates with SP2. I downloaded the Realtek HD Audio driver Setup file, sp26552.exe, but when I execute the file it closes after giving me the following message:

You must be logged on as the PC Administrator to install this update

I set up an Administrator login when I installed XP professional and I logged into it before I even downloaded the file and attempted to install it. I am really baffled. Does anyone have any helpful hints for me? You assistance is greatly appreciated.

The account with which you have logged in as does not have administrative privileges.

All you need to do is right-click the installer file and choose 'Run As'. Select the Administrator account from the drop down box and enter the password.

    1. Do know the administrator password?
    2. Have you logged in as the administrator from the Windows log on box and tried to install it?
    3. Have you checked the file's permissions? Make sure that the read, write and execute permissions for the installer are assigned to your user group. Also take ownership of the file if needs be.
    4. Check that you have 'execute' permissions for the folder in which the installer is located in. Try moving the installer file to your personal My Documents folder
    5. If none of the above work; download the file again from the internet

Let me know if you need help with the file permissions
