Hi, im upgrading my memory on my pc at the end of the month But i dont know nothing about upgrading it, or which one should work on my pc :O . I want to add 512mb on top of my already 256mb. Here are some info: System Memory: * Supports 2 memory slots. * Supports a maximum memory size of 2 GB (using 2 x 1 GB memory modules) * 400/333/266 MHz * Support only 2.5 V DIMM DDRAM configurations * Unbuffered type support Just wondering, can anyone help show me which upgrade i should buy please. Choose from here: ebuyer . Prize is an issue also . Thanks Alot!
I would probably go for a 2GB upgrade. It's better to have a gun and not need it, than need it and not have it. Besides, if you plan on running a premium edition of Vista Aero...you'll need a minimum of 1GB of RAM. Don't be scared to splurge on RAM, its vital. Good companies are Corsair (OC well), OCZ (expensive but fast), and that's all I've ever used before. There are others out there but I dont comment since I havent used them myself. I buy 90% of my hardware from Newegg.com (it's arguably one of the number PC hardware retailers (resellers) in the U.S. (most popular IMO). They offer high quality images, hundreds of reviews from actual customers, etc.) EDIT: now that I'm looking at your system mem specs...you seem to upgrade only when you absolutely, positively HAVE to. With that being said, getting more RAM than you'll actually use on your current OS and software, is right down your alley. You won't have to upgrade it for a long time.
that was confusing Well my budget aint that great so i prolly be able to afford 512mb at most. I think newegg is a based outside of the UK and i dont want to wait that long for it to be shipped here . Can you pick a memory upgrade from ebuyer for me please, which will be able to work on my pc. Thank You
Okay. I checked out ebuyer's site. Although my math on converting USD to EUROs may be off. But I might have found a good RAM stick. I noticed a lot of DDR 400MHz Kingston sticks. I have not personally dealt with those. However, once I saw Crucial's name - I breathe a sigh of relief. I have friends who use this and also use it to overclock. So it is good quality and a good performer. The Crucial stick also fits within your computer's parameters. Here is a link to it...ebuyer: Crucial Memory Stick link EDIT: Also, here is a link to the customer reviews for the product (which may prove helpful in making your decision): Customer Review on Crucial... Let me know if this helps!
Cool, thanks! i just want to make sure, that this memory stick will fit and work on my pc. I will more prolly buy it, so i need to make sure. Thank You
this can tell you exactly what RAM you have, then you can get the correct RAM to work along side your existing RAM
Yeah, Id use pcwizard to see what you are using at the moment before splashing cash. Theres no point in having registered DDR400 when you currently have unregistered DDR266, for example! Ive never gone overboard on brands of RAM, crucial and kingston have always done me fine.
