Okay I want to figure out whether or not my monitor's display of colors is good. I'm comparing my desktop and laptop monitors, and there is definitely a marked difference in color when displaying the same things. How can I find out what a certain image is really supposed to look like and whether my monitor does a good job of displaying the colors correctly? I'm thinking a good way would be to look at some real-life photographs of things which I KNOW for sure what color they should be in real life. Like landscape pictures maybe? I should be able to tell if landscape features like green plants don't seem quite the right color, right? Does anyone have any such suitable pictures? Or does anyone have other ideas on the best way to approach this? Are there perhaps websites dedicated to this purpose that anyone knows of?

Cuz seriously, this monitor is annoying the hell out of me. Everything seems to look better on my freaking laptop!! How can that be? A laptop screen showing colors better than a $240 stand-alone LCD monitor??! I badly need some way to truly test it. Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Try scanning an actual photograph (with a good scanner).. Then display in on the monitor.. Compare the screen to the photograph... You can adjust colors and stuff under the display settings.

Hmm. That's a good thought, thanks. Didn't think of that myself. Only finding access to a good scanner will be problematic... But I might be able to, I'll see what I can do.
