XP Install probs

    Hi
    Hers the problem !

    I have a dell lattitude laptop
    I want to put XP onto it. But as it copies the files
    i keep gettin messages that certain files are not valid windos system files .
    What the hell is that all about ?

    I the get Blue screen saying that it has shut down to prvent damage with a

    stop error code

    any ideas ?:confused: :confused:

    what is that error message which u r getting on your BSOD(Blue Screen of Death)?

    There is some text with underscores in at the top of the blue screen. Thats usually more useful.
    Is the windows xp disk one you got from dell or is it a microsoft disk?

    It's a microsoft disk . I don't get why it will install on my desktop and not on laptop .
    Plus why the laptop will take Me and not Xp.

    How many licenses do u have with it?...also type the error which u r getting exactly when u try to install windows..

    it's a single license.
    As for the rest of the error message . I don't know as i have wiped HD .
    and not botherd tring again

    well! if that CD came with a company's PC then I doubt if it will work with your laptop because it has happened with me lots of time...It doesnt support that hardware...

    I brought cd sepeate for the sole purpos of installing on laptop

    Then try again because its hard to tell wats wrong with the setup without knowing the error message..
