I recently purchased a new video card from TigerDirect.com - when I ordered I made sure to check the minimum requirements. The website said I needed a 300W power supply. I've got a 350W, so I ordered. It gets here, and I install it. Boot up - install drivers - start playing some games - it crashes. Restart, play some games - it crashes. I left the next day with the PC running, and when I got back from work - it was frozen. I reboot and nothing happens. No beeps, no bios info on the screen, just black. This is when I notice that the video card really needs a 500W PSU according to the box it came in. Grrr! Damn TigerDirect's website, and damn me for not re-checking. So, I've removed the new video card and put the old one back in - and same thing....nothing happens. I've got about 5 video cards laying around, each one is progressivly older - and if I go back far enough to my old GeFore2 video card - it works. I can see the BIOS info and what not....but everything more current hangs and does nothing. I ran some memory tester for a few hours and my RAM is fine, I'm also guessing my CPU is fine as it was able to run the test for hours without a hiccup....the old video card I had works fine in other computers, the HD and DVD/CD rom work great as well. So, is it possible that I've ruined the AGP slot on my MB in such a way that it works fine with old video cards but not new ones? I've swapped out the PSU with a newer one and I still can't get the sucker to work.
probably not, what is the make and model of the PSU you are using, if the PSU came with the system case it is probably not good, read Big B's PSU Stickya PSU saying it's wattage doesn't mean much what is the make and model of the PSU you are using ?
It's a Turbolink switching power supply Model: LC-A350ATX 12V I've tried using a newer/working PSU with the motherboard/CPU/old video card and it still doesn't work; unless I use a very old video card (my old GeForce2 will work). I've tried resetting the CMOS and all that jazz - but it didn't help.
sorry, just reread your original post, i must stop skim reading you need a powerful PSU, a few brands of PSU's i recommend is Antec, Hyper, Enermax, Tagan etc etc. well i personally have never heard of Turbolink, you will need the most powerful PSU you can afford, if the CPU is the brain of a PC then the PSU is the heart, and your grfx says it requires a 500W PSU, be careful choosing a PSU, some crap brands may say their 500W but i reality, their worse than a decent 300W PSU
