Found an archive that includes Debian packages for Beryl 0.1.3. When I installed them my old 0.1.1 packages were automatically replaced which is good. Beryl 0.1.3 is a MAJOR improvement. It runs much, much faster and includes even more plugins. Definately worth the upgrade. INSTRUCTIONS: Download the tar achive from here Extract the archive by typing: Code: tar xvzf beryl-svn-1691mc-dapper-tar-gz Code: cd beryl-svn-1691mc-dapper Remove 'Beryl-dev' from the extracted folder because it's not needed and causes dependency problems. Code: rm beryl-dev* Install by typing the following: Code: sudo dpkg -i *.deb
Awesome!!! What's the shortcuts for fire? I can't seem to find any options in the Beryl Settings manager - I love the new transparent cube option, and the fact you can have your Windows in a 3D environment too so when they can be seen overlaying each other when rotating etc
Fire is in the 'Animations' plugin. Basically when you minimise and maximise windows they burn up. Rockin!
0.1.3 is a major improvement on 0.1.1 (the version I still had) It's a lot quicker, the new transparent cube effect isn't only flashy - it's useful too, helps me to see (through the desktop - it doesn't make windows transparent) where my other windows are.
I just hope that somebody keeps packaging newer Beryl versions for Dapper! Most of the Dapper repositories for Beryl are frozen now because the focus is mainly on Edgy Eft and AIGLX. I prefer to keep Dapper because it's a long term support release and my legacy nVidia card doesn't support AIGLX anyway. I am stuck with XGL whether I like it or not!
