    build or buy??

With the budget of £500 or so, i recommend to buy. But I am not sure most XP games will be compatible with Vista. I had a lot of problems with iTunes 7 and Nero Burning to run on Vista. Anyhow, to buy off-the-shelf, Vista is the only way. XP will be phased out rather soon. To build one from...

    Keyboard/Mouse not recognized

I would say to try a PS/2 Keyboard & Mouse (or the usb-ps/2 adaptor). Then find out the problem with your usb port. Could save you an hour reinstalling xp.

    My personal experience with vista

I've been testing Vista RC1 release on AMD 64 Venice, 1GB RAM, Radeon 9550, 40 gb hdd. Here's what i've found. Built-in DVD writer too slow. No good for writing multi-section dvd. So i have to put everything i want to write in one folder and write them at once. I can't find any options for...

Pentium D vs Athlon FX (Dual Core)

Thanks for replies. So, intel PentiumD 805 seems good value for money. AMD dual core can't be cheaper than that. They look a little over-confident with the price.

    Help Upgrading RAM

According to specs, I don't think you can get more out of it. Your 512MB RAM is not running at 200Mhz because the other one is running @ 166. I also don't think (not sure), the board supports Dual Channel. Even then, both modules will be running at 166, effective 333 MHz. Some dual channel board...

Pentium D vs Athlon FX (Dual Core)

I've read somewhere (sorry i can't find that piece on the web anymore) that Pentium D - Dual core uses chipset to communicate with each other while the Athlon FX has internal controller directly connected. Therefore, Pentium suffers lantency delay as the data goes down to the board back & forth...

    wireless router

I pronounce the same way you do. What is strange to me is here in England, everyone i met pronounce it as rOOter while the Oxford Dict says rOUter (OU as "out"). Of course, it doesn't matter so long as we can communicate each other. :). Just being curious. Thanks for ur reply mr Yankee. How's...

    Windows Vista: Yaaaawn

Brief outline of my Vista experience: :( I had WinServer2003 on C:\ and dual boot Vista(Beta) from D:\. Dual boot was fine. The funny thing (or not very funny) was Vista recognises it's boot partition as C: and put my Server03 as D. The drive letter changed on Vista. I wouldn't dare to...

    AM2 vs 939

I recently bought 939 venice core. It's super. I don't think 939 will be phased out any time soon. It's a mature & stable technology. AMD's still providing Socket A (Duron/Sempron). I think 939 is safe for a couple of years more. To me a new cpu every 2 years is fair. For me, nxt upgrade will...
