Oblivion is still a little buggy. Don't feel too bad. Assuming you patched the bad boy you should be able to smooth that out hopefully. It could be a power related thing. What are the specs on your Power supply, brand, model, wattage, amps on 12v rail.

Very likely, you can't be very competitive without low prices. nVidia is pretty much on it's own in the new hightend department so low prices aren't a problem for it now. With ATI back in the game they'll both be looking to beat the other with deals and whatnot.

In my experince ram can help smooth out both hitches and pauses and the frame rate. Half Life 2 used to have a lot of trouble running on high, to the point where is just wasn't playable. Adding 512 really helped bring it up to a playable standard (and Overclocking my cpu more so). Extra ram...

I don't see an issue. The mimimum just tells you what you need at the very least to actually get the game installed and play it to some degree. Things won't be cranked and it won't be the same experience but it's just a guideline. Anyone lower than those settings pretty much need not bother.

Yeah that card's better, it has a little lower clockspeeds (which could easily be bumped up if you so desired) but the extra 4 pipelines will more than make up for it so it'll show a good 15%+ speed boost over the GS I'd say.

Maybe but the 7800GTX has 24 pipes, the 7900GS has 20 right? I don't think they're talking strictly about performance either, as a 6800GT is not going to beat an X850XT in too many tests to my knowledge.

I'm in a weird situation. My card's better than a 6600GT, but even with my tweaks it's still plenty worse than a 6800GT, and it's really not X850XT. It's more of a 7.5 I guess.
