well, i don't see the model number anywhere on the machine and the manual says that the serial number is supposed to be on the post that holds up the copier when replacing ink, yet there is no serial number there. found the serial number on a metal plate on the inside of the printer. doesn't...

and i should note that the software doesn't notice it either. when loading the software it will not detect it.

this is using xp 32 pro. I contacted tech support but they wanted me to update my BIOS and as far as i'm concerned that's a no no. they also said that changing cables may help. what do you think? the computer detects it but does not know what it is and calls it an unknown device.

so, how do you keep xp from hiding all the stuff next to the time on the bottom right corner of the screen?

I'm thinking of getting a less than $50 printer. is there any brand that doesn't rip you off on ink? i will not buy epson again due to this (newly installed cartridges had a way of becoming suddenly empty with epson. ).

i just blocked those in bhphoto due to one of their stupid annoying ads on another site. I tried unblocking it in the preferences section but it did not work. even resetting noscript does not bring the photos back. :dry:
