    Ping, anyone?

Yeah, I was thinking that they could just be blocking all ICMP packets/traffic, but wasn't sure until you guys brought it up. Thanks to you all :good: P.S. ADDIS, what's a "whois query" ? An who do you use it?

    Ping, anyone?

Hey guys. Just a quick one. I always thought that "ping" was the first thing you try to test connectivity, right? So, if can't ping somewhere, you wont be able to comunicate with it through the upper layers (ie. through a Browser). Or could you? My friend built this website, and it's so weird...

    going forever in restart loop.

I asume that you formatted the HD before reinstalling Windows? I believe you should do a Low Level format then. May be that'll take care of the boot sector virus, if any. Then reinstall Windows and see what happens. You can download this small app to create a floppy to do the low level...

Yep, I've had that problem with IE too. Doesn't happen with the FOX though. Try it, you might never want to go back !! :ff:

    Another SATA?

So, you mean it will use the drivers I put when I installed Win2K?

    Another SATA?

Just a quick question. I have a SATA HD which is 80 Gigs. I'm kind of running out of space with that one, so I want to buy another one. My HD has Win2K installed and I want the second one just for extra storage (not for another OS). My question is: Can I just buy another SATA drive, and plug it...

    What Do You Think?

Yep, I'll go with Addis. If you can spare some $130, get a 9800pro. If you simply can't, then get a 9600xt. I've seen those 9600 in action and trust me, for your price range they rock. It can play FarCry fairly well with the settings in high!!! And you know FarCry is no puny game  .

    Best Video Card for $150?

I believe that the best bang for that buck could be the ATI 9800pro. Especially if you'r playing the HL engine. (Unless you want a PCIe of course, in which case I'll have to go with the 6600gt). Check it out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814102477...

    Video Cable, anyone??

True public enemy, I could have used a VGA to DVI plug. And yes, that's how it is; the PC has a VGA and the projector has a DVI. I just didn't want to plug an adapter. I guess I''ll have to follow your suggestion eventually. Thanks man.

    Help with integrated sound

Well, what you all say makes sense :agree: . The noise is not feedback though. We tried the PC in the Pastor's office and the noise went away completely, but of course, the computer needs to be in the temple. I was wondering . . . there's no other electrical device close to the PC. The...

    Help with integrated sound

Yeah, I tried lowering the volume on all sound settings in Windows, to no effect. Can you think of anything else that might be causing this? Also, I forgot to mention that the noise comes up as soon as you turn the PC on, well before Windows loads. Weird eh?

    Video Cable, anyone??

HI: I need to coneect a PC to a projector thats's approx. 20 ft away. I managed to find a monitor cable 25 ft long (regular PC video connection), but the problem is that the "PC-in" port in the projector is DVI. So, I 've been looking for a cable that is 15 to 20 feet long, that has DVI...

    Help with integrated sound

I recently build a PC to use in our church so that we can display the PowerPoints, DVD's and stuff. The problem is that as soon as you connect the PC to the church's sound system, you starts to hear a very annoying noise, like static or interference of some kind. The soundcard is integrated, but...

    bought new video card

Yep, I'll go with the guys. A 5200? All I can say is :ah: no way!!! If you wanna play games you should get something more . . . decent. I dont know what your planning to spend, but I think you can find the best bang for the buck on two cards right now: Nvidia's 6600gt or ATI's 9800pro.
